- About the Artist
As you’ve probably figured out by now, I’m Alexa Lee, and I’m the artist behind Alexa Lee Acrylics. I’m college age, and I currently work full time as a barista and a baker.
I started painting seriously about three years ago, and I’ve found that I can’t stop. It’s become a part of me, and is how I deal with hurt and beauty and all manner of emotions. I use acrylics because acrylics are what I started with, and me and acrylics understand one another now.
- Words and Pictures
Words that are so beautiful that they hurt, words that touch a sore place in my heart, words that I know are true but I struggle to believe; these are often the inspiration for my paintings. Beautiful lyrics or quotes will tumble around in my head and evoke such emotion that I feel I must express them somehow.
Pictures are how my mind works. I think in colors and visual illustrations. Often the beautiful words that touch deep in my soul will conjure up a picture in my mind. Then I paint it.
I want to help others express the what touches their hearts deeply. Words that make your heart sing, words that break your heart, words that you struggle to believe but cling to with every ounce of hope you have left. I want to help you write these words on your heart. My greatest hope for my artwork is that it will be an ever visible reminder that beauty can come from pain and there is hope in this world.
“For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”
